May 3, 2026 ~ The Detroit Zoo will open the seven-acre Fred and Barbara Erb Discovery Trails on Saturday, May 23, offering hands-on experiences and new ways to interact with nature and animals. This attraction features stingrays, goats, bush dogs, giant anteaters, alpaca, miniature donkeys, burrowing owls, a new chicken species, and prairie dogs, with varied pricing for certain encounters. Beyond the new trails, the zoo also has three new lion cubs, upcoming events like Zoo Brew and Sunset at the Zoo, and the return of Dinosauria.
