WASHINGTON, D.C. ~ To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Great American State Fair, organized by Freedom 250, kicked off Thursday, June 25 on the National Mall. While President Donald Trump has stated on social media that the event is “packed with happy people,” national media is claiming that attendance is limited and power outages have been reported.
According to USA TODAY on Monday, the crowds at multiple attractions were limited, including the state booths, with the longest line coming at the 110-foot-tall Ferris wheel.
Originally, plenty of popular artists were scheduled to perform, including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, and The Commodores, but a majority of them ended up withdrawing.
The fair will last until Friday, July 10, with an “Salute to America” celebration planned on July 4.
