GROSSE POINTE, MI ~ While Jamie Ding, the Jeopardy! darling who was raised in metro Detroit, ended his 31-game winning streak Monday evening, he can confidently be marked down as one of the most successful contestants in the show’s history.
The Grosse Pointe North High School graduate was defeated by Philadelphia chess player Greg Shahade, leaving Ding with a total of $882,605 won across his 32 games. He ranks in the top 10 all-time best Jeopardy players with multiple metrics, including ranking fifth in consecutive wins and seventh in all-time monetary winnings.
“He put on a good fight towards the end,” Jessie Ding, the sister of Jamie Ding, told WJR. “The crew was amazing, and everyone was very supportive. The studio audience that day was very nice. So it was very bittersweet.“
