WASHINGTON D.C. ~ King Charles III will deliver a speech to Congress on Tuesday afternoon during a U.S. visit, showcasing the unique history between the U.S. and the U.K.
To commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, the King and Queen Camilla began a multi-day visit on Monday to Washington, D.C. that will last until April 30. The royals met with President Donald Trump on Monday for a private party and meal.
As part of this trip, the king will address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday afternoon, the first time a British monarch has done so since 1991. Ryan Ermanni, host of WJR’s “‘JR Afternoon,” will be the official guest of Republican Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-5) for the address, and will call in to the station throughout the afternoon to share what he saw.
The monarchs are visiting amid strained relations between the U.S. and the U.K., with Trump attacking the U.K. leadership over its opposition to participating in the Iran War that was launched by the U.S. and Israel two months ago. The speech is expected to express continued cooperation between the two nations.
