
WASHINGTON D.C. ~ President Donald Trump and other administration members were evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday evening after shots were heard inside the venue.
Attendees dropped down onto the ground at the Washington Hilton hotel following the shots. No injuries have been reported, and Trump himself appears to be unharmed.
The United States Secret Service reported on X that one suspect is in custody and is currently investigating the situation. Trump, who was evacuated alongside his wife and Vice President JD Vance, is back at the White House and is expected to give a press conference shortly.
In a Truth Social post, the president said he was advised to reschedule the dinner within 30 days.
The Washington Hilton holds historic significance, being the building where Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinckley Jr. in an attempted assassination in 1981.
