April 21, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson talk with Adrian Woodland, spokesperson for AAA Michigan. They discuss Michigan gas prices, recent drops, and future predictions.
MICHIGAN ~ Gas prices in Michigan, and the rest of the U.S., fell significantly from last week amid an erratic oil market, though this drop may be temporary.
The state’s average gas prices fell by 15 cents, sitting at $3.83 a gallon on Monday morning, according to AAA, though the price was 67 cents higher from this time last year. The drop came amid a temporary ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, though oil prices rose again Sunday after Iran announced it would re-close the Strait of Hormuz, a major trade route for oil. Talks between the nations are currently volatile, and will likely see gas prices at the pump rise again if a deal isn’t reached by Wednesday, when the ceasefire is set to expire.
