April 20, 2026 ~ Mike Duggan, independent candidate for governor, checks in with Sandy Baruah in for Paul W.
DETROIT, MICH. ~ As the race for Michigan governor heats up, with the election coming on Tuesday, Nov. 3, former Detroit mayor Mike Duggan, who is running as an Independent, is busy working on income issues, which correlates with the problems in the Michigan job market.
“I’m finding this it doesn’t matter where I go. We’re having exactly the same conversation. My kids are going to leave the state because they don’t have the job opportunities here,” Duggan said on Focus Monday afternoon. “It’s pretty exciting, the momentum that’s building as we talk about how we share solutions.”
Michigan ranks 40th in the country in household income. According to independent polling, Duggan is tied, or in some cases leading, his opponents from the Democratic and Republican sides.
