April 15, 2026 ~ Congressman Tim Walberg joins Kevin Dietz to discuss Congress returning to session and the key issues lawmakers are taking up right now.
WASHINGTON, D.C. ~ Congress has officially returned after a two-week break, and homeland security is on the top of the ballot of issues to be solved. Prior to the break, the House and Senate failed to reach an agreement that would fund the Department of Homeland Security, as it has been shut down since Feb. 14. Democrats have been against funding for ICE and Border Patrol, which has led to the stalemate as United States President Donald Trump has pulled money from other areas to support the DHS.
“What is frustrating is that 11 of those 12 bills have been passed by both houses, signed into law by the president, but this one bill, homeland security, hasn’t in a time when we lack the potential of saying our homeland is really secure with all the terrorism that’s going on,” Congressman Tim Walberg said on All Talk.
Two other developments that lawmakers will have to account for is the Iran ceasefire, as the war is losing support from both parties, and the resignation of both Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) over allegations of sexual misconduct.
