June 3, 2026 ~ Detroit News reporter Melissa Nann Burke breaks down the appointment of Bill Pulte as National Intelligence Chief and explores his connections to Michigan and what this could mean politically.
WASHINGTON D.C. ~ U.S. Federal Housing Director Bill Pulte will take over as acting director of national intelligence, President Donald Trump announced Tuesday.
Pulte is also a businessman with Michigan ties who helped create Blight Authority, a nonprofit organization dedicated to removing urban blight in Detroit. He has extensive experience in the housing industry and philanthropy, though lacking experience in national security/intelligence, raising some eyebrows as to why he was picked for the role.
Still, Trump claimed on Truth Social that Pulte, “has deep experience managing the most sensitive matters in America.”
He will take over the role from former Director Tulsi Gabbard, who resigned in May.
