April 24, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson chat with Jamie Edmonds about her cancer journey. She discusses her new podcast, “Jamie’s Journey: Angels Along the Way,” and the support she’s received.
DETROIT ~ WJR host Jamie Edmonds called in to not only give an update on her battle with breast cancer, but to share an announcement spawned from her journey.
She joined her “‘JR Morning” co-hosts Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson on Friday, sharing that she has had eight of her 16 treatments for her cancer. She added that her husband, daughter, and friends from across the country have been her biggest supporters during her journey.
“In those first couple of months, it was too much for me to talk about. But I got to the better place because of other people,” Edmonds, 42, said. “So I thought, ‘Maybe I’m supposed to do this because I have this platform, and maybe then I could do that for other people.’”
That platform will be WJR, where her new podcast, “Jamie’s Journey: Angels Along the Way,” will be airing May 30. The podcast, which will be available wherever podcasts are available, will feature her talking with people in the community who either treat people with cancer or those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
“You’re not alone,” Edmonds said. “It can be very lonely when you get the diagnosis, but there are people who have been through it, and it really, really helps to hear people on the other side.”
On April 13, Edmonds announced on air that she would temporarily step away from “‘JR Morning” for breast cancer treatment, after getting the diagnosis two months prior.
