ALLEN PARK, Aug. 13, 2025 ~ The Detroit Lions have started a two-day joint practice session with the Miami Dolphins. The team is using the opportunity to evaluate personnel and gain exposure to different competitive styles.

Detroit Head Coach Dan Campbell expressed enthusiasm about the sessions, citing the benefits of facing a new opponent. “They got really good personnel, good scheme… it’s somebody different,” said Campbell. “It just gives us a chance to kind of work against different types of looks and athletes.” He noted that the change in atmosphere has energized the players, who are eager to compete against unfamiliar styles and techniques.

(CONTINUED) Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown stood out during one-on-ones and red zone drills, consistently winning reps with sharp routes and physical play. He was locked in from start to finish, making life difficult for Miami’s defenders and showing why he’s one of the most reliable targets on the field.

Running back Sione Vaki is returning to practice after missing time due to injury. The coaching staff will monitor his performance and determine his readiness for expanded reps.

Campbell also addressed the progress of young edge rushers, including Nate Lynn, Keith Cooper Jr, and Isaac Ukwu. “I think all those guys improved,” he said. “Even the other night I thought all those guys showed a little bit and showed some improvement over a week period.”

The Lions will play the Dolphins in their second preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 1:00 p.m.
