DETROIT, April 17, 2024 ~ Many attendees at big events that serve food likely have noticed a lot of it goes to waste. With the NFL Draft expected to draw 400 thousand people to Detroit for various events, there will be more than enough food to go around, but what will happen to all the food that’s not eaten?

NFL Draft organizers selected Metro Food Rescue, the fast-growing nonprofit organization that rescues food from more than 50 locations across the Detroit area and delivers it to more than 70 partner food banks and pantries, to rescue food from the Draft events in Downtown Detroit April 25-27. Metro Food Rescue founder and CEO Chadd Techner said the organization needs volunteers from across the community to assist with gathering food from the vendors serving fans and distributing it to select locations in the city to help Detroiters in need and reduce waste.
