MICHIGAN, April 29, 2024 ~ At least three Michigan universities have seen Gaza solidarity encampments pop on on their campuses within the past week as student protests continue to spread across the country.

The encampment at the University of Michigan‘s Diag reached the one-week mark Monday, with students at Western Michigan University opening their own on Saturday. Michigan State University also opened one last week, but the encampment shut down late Saturday when the permit expired, according to the State News. Student activists have been calling for their schools to divest from weapons manufacturers and other companies that support Israel amid its ongoing military campaign into Gaza, which has killed over 34,000 people.
