EAST LANSING ~ MSU football will face the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison on Saturday, their first showing since losing running back Cam Edwards to an injury. Offensive Coordinator Nick Sheridan said he is confident in his replacements and their ability to close gaps.
“We just adjust and the next man steps up and put a plan together to try to put our players in the best position to win,” Sheridan said Tuesday. He said he expects the remaining running backs to play well and that they are “ready to do it.”

(CONTINUED) Redshirt senior Jaziun Patterson stepped up Saturday and scored the only touchdown last week against Nebraska after replacing Edwards, and has since been promoted to RB1. Marvis Parrish, a sophomore transfer from Kentucky, will shift up in the depth chart to slot RB2. Parrish gained 53 yards on 18 carries in his first four games for the Spartans, and has the opportunity to raise these stats now that he will see more field time. Returning junior Brandon Tullis will also move up in rotations to round out the backfield.
MSU will face an improved Wisconsin team after the Badgers spent the offseason recruiting transfers with NIL deals. Wisconsin won their first conference matchup at Penn State, and is 3-1 overall. The revised Spartan offense will be tested against Wisconsin’s defense to finish drives. MSU will face Wisconsin on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 12:30pm in Madison.
