WASHINGTON D.C. ~ With two GOP Senators absent, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution Tuesday to check President Donald Trump’s war powers by seeking to end further military attacks against Iran.
The mostly symbolic resolution was approved in a 50-48 vote, with GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Rand Paul, and Bill Cassidy joining Democrats in approving the resolution and bucking Trump. Democrat Senator John Fetterman, who has been outspokenly hawkish on foreign policy since joining Congress, joined Republicans by voting against it.
Trump was irritated at the dissenting Republicans, writing on Truth Social that, “Four Republican Losers voted with the Dumocrats, and Iran asked my people, ‘What does that all mean?’”
