DETROIT ~ Communications strategist Andrea Bitely says she no longer feels represented by today’s Republican Party, arguing that her longtime belief in fiscal conservatism and limited government no longer aligns with the direction of the GOP under former President Donald Trump. Bitely said her concerns extend beyond personality politics, pointing to issues such as government spending, rising costs and the need for bipartisan cooperation.
Bitely said her ballot included a mix of Republican, Democratic and write-in candidates as she evaluated each race individually rather than voting strictly along party lines. While she remains critical of both major parties, she said she hopes to see a return to what she considers traditional Republican values and a greater focus on practical solutions to the challenges facing Michigan residents.
