DETROIT ~ As Election Day approaches, the FBI is urging voters to be cautious of scammers using the election to target unsuspecting individuals. Common schemes may include fake donation requests, misleading text messages and emails, or attempts to collect personal and financial information by posing as election-related organizations.
Officials encourage voters to verify information through trusted sources and avoid sharing sensitive information with unknown contacts. The warning serves as a reminder that while many voters focus on casting their ballots, scammers may be looking for opportunities to take advantage of the busy election season.
