LANSING, MICH. ~ After Wedgewood Polls admitted that their Michigan Senate primary data was fake, former Democratic candidate Mallory McMorrow claimed on social media that the false information hurt her campaign, saying “Donations dried up – Volunteers were devastated and pleading for guidance on what to do – Reporters hounded me with calls to drop out.”
McMorrow dropped out on July 5 after a June 24 poll showed Abdul El-Sayed leading the way by 46%, Haley Stevens at 39%, and McMorrow at just 9%. The poll also showed that she was the only one unable to defeat Republican Mike Rogers.
Wedgewood says the data was an “experiment” to show voters the weaknesses of modern polling.
