October 19, 2026 ~ Todd Flood discusses Michigan regulators saying Michigan State University broke the law by waiting 17 months to report sexual assault claims against Arpit Saxena.
EAST LANSING ~ New questions are being raised about how Michigan State University handled sexual misconduct allegations after state regulators said the university waited 17 months to notify authorities about accusations involving former physician Arpit Saxena. For many students and patients, the delay is renewing concerns about whether safeguards meant to protect people were followed when concerns were first brought forward.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, known as LARA, says healthcare-related sexual misconduct allegations must be reported within 30 days, and the university could face sanctions as the investigation continues. Critics say timely notification is critical because it gives regulators an opportunity to investigate and helps prevent potential misconduct from affecting others.
