WICHITA, Kan. ~ A Kansas community is mourning after a pickup truck crashed onto a youth soccer field at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, killing 6-year-old Cole Adrian and 35-year-old Nicholas Schafer during a weekend game. What was supposed to be an afternoon of children playing soccer and families gathering together instead ended in heartbreak for dozens of people connected to the tragedy.
Police say the 34-year-old driver has been released without charges as investigators continue to await toxicology results and a mechanical inspection of the vehicle. While questions remain about what caused the crash, many families are now focused on grieving their loss and supporting those who were injured.
