CHARLOTTE, N.C. ~ The Lions left Charlotte frustrated after a 32-26 loss to the Panthers on Sunday night. Despite a strong performance from quarterback Jared Goff, Detroit fell to 2-2 on the season as defensive breakdowns and an ineffective running game proved too much to overcome.

(CONTINUED) Goff completed 32 of 52 passes for 412 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Jameson Williams led Detroit with six receptions for 102 yards, while tight end Sam LaPorta added eight catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored on the ground but was limited to 46 yards on 15 carries as the Lions managed just 46 rushing yards and relied heavily on Goff’s arm to move the offense.

The Panthers found success with a balanced offensive attack. Quarterback Bryce Young threw for two touchdowns, running back Chuba Hubbard rushed for 122 yards and two scores, and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan had 14 catches for 192 yards and both receiving touchdowns. The Lions will look to bounce back Oct. 11 when they travel to face the Arizona Cardinals before their Week 6 bye.
