LANSING, Mich. ~ COVID-19 infections are increasing in parts of Michigan, according to wastewater monitoring data that shows activity reaching its highest level since March. Health experts say the rise may be tied to students returning to school and the virus’ tendency to move in waves throughout the year.
Despite the increase in cases, doctors say they have not seen a corresponding surge in hospitalizations, suggesting many people have some level of protection from prior infections or vaccination. Health experts continue to encourage vaccination and awareness of symptoms as Michigan enters the fall respiratory virus season.
