July 15, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson discuss extreme heat safety with Dr. Laurel Harduar Morano, from Occupational Environmental Medicine at Michigan State University, sharing tips for staying safe in high temperatures.
MICHIGAN ~ Southeast Michigan continues to be under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Wednesday, with temperatures reaching near 100 degrees.
A heat index value of up to 102 is expected, according to the National Weather Service, similar to Tuesday’s temperatures. The agency advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room and out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
People are also advised to take extra precautions when outside by wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, limiting strenuous activities to early morning or evening, and taking action when they see symptoms of heat stroke.
