(CONTINUED) Verlander’s selection provided one of the most meaningful moments of the event. The veteran right-hander was named MLB’s Legend Pick after announcing that the 2026 season will be his last, making Philadelphia the site of his final All-Star Game appearance. For Tigers fans, the game highlighted the connection between one of the franchise’s greatest pitchers and a new generation of homegrown talent led by McGonigle, Greene and Dingler.
The All-Star Game also offered a glimpse into Detroit’s future. The Tigers selected right-handed pitcher Cameron Flukey out of Coastal Carolina in the first round of the 2026 MLB Draft, adding another highly regarded arm to the organization’s pipeline. While Flukey is at the beginning of his professional career, the Tigers hope he can continue his development and eventually join the franchise’s growing list of All-Stars. With a hometown appearance for McGonigle and a final All-Star Game for Verlander, Philadelphia provided a memorable stage for both the present and future of Tigers baseball.
