July 3 ~ Dearborn Police have confirmed that two people were killed and a third person was injured after a shooting inside Fairlane Town Center on Friday afternoon.
During a Friday afternoon briefing, Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said the shooting appeared to stem from an altercation between two groups who knew one another. The dispute escalated into gunfire, with shots reportedly fired by both parties involved. Police emphasized that the incident does not appear to have been a random act of violence.
The victims were reported to be males in their late teens or early 20s.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as shoppers and employees fled after hearing multiple gunshots.
Videos posted on social media showed people running through the mall corridors while first responders rushed to assist victims and secure the area.
The mall was evacuated and remained closed as officers processed the scene.
