MICHIGAN ~ The Detroit Free Press Editorial Board made an official endorsement Monday in the contentious Democratic primary race for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat.
State Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak) garnered the endorsement from the major Detroit newspaper for her “pragmatic idealism,” believing she points “the way forward for Democrats.”
“McMorrow combines the best of El-Sayed’s impassioned activism and Stevens’ technocratic policy chops,” said the Editorial Board. “She understands that change happens incrementally, but that the path toward progress doesn’t end after the first step.”
McMorrow is locked into a competitive race with U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) and former Wayne County Director of the Department of Health, Human, and Veterans Services Abdul El-Sayed. He recently received endorsements from the UAW and Jewish Voice For Peace, while Stevens received an endorsement from former Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).
