June 24, 2026 ~ Congresswoman Debbie Dingell discusses a new bipartisan agreement aimed at strengthening online safety protections for children.
WASHINGTON, D.C. ~ The House Energy and Commerce Committee, led by Chair Brett Guthrie and Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), reached a bipartisan agreement on the KIDS Act in an attempt to protect children on social media. Consideration on the House floor could happen as soon as next week after prior talks had stalled months ago.
“We will be voting on it in committee tomorrow,” Congresswoman Debbie Dingell said on All Talk. “It includes strong parental controls and safety tools for parents and the minors. I think what’s very important—and too many people young don’t even think about it or know about it, adults don’t think about it either—is it expands privacy protections for children and teens, which is who has access.”
The legislation draws from the debated Kids Online Safety Act, known as KOSA, among 13 other child safety bills. KOSA targets social media companies to hold them accountable in protecting minors.
