LANSING ~ The FBI announced that a Hawaii man was arrested earlier this week for allegedly making threats to kill Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and shoot up the state’s Capitol building in Lansing.
Ronald Saville, 48, is being charged with transmitting interstate communications containing threats. On May 9, he allegedly sent an email to Michigan State Police, claiming he would enter the Michigan State Capitol, “and open fire and kill as many people as possible. I mean what I say I’m not a joke.” He then allegedly sent another email to Whitmer, stating, “on Tuesday second, Lancy, Michigan is never gonna be the same again going to walk into the state capital shoot it up and kill as many people as possible than I’m coming for you.”
Saville does appear to have a pattern of threatening political officials, having been convicted twice for making such threats. Once he made threats towards former U.S. President George W. Bush in 2006 and another toward former U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway of Hawaii in 2012.
