EAST LANSING, MICH. ~ Former U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow does not want to take over as interim president for Michigan State University.
In an interview with The Detroit News, the Lansing Democrat stated that she has no interest serving as president or as an interim for MSU. Stabenow graduated from the university in 1975 and retired from the U.S. Senate in 2025.
The university is currently in the process of finding its 23rd president after former President Kevin Guskiewicz chose to leave East Lansing after two years of service for Clemson, despite receiving a massive raise in May.
