CHINA ~ President Donald Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping for a state banquet on Wednesday amid global tensions and tariff battles.
Trump expressed positive thoughts on the state of U.S. and China relations, with Xi calling it the “most important” relationship in the world. However, the Chinese leader expressed concerns over the island of Taiwan, which Beijing claims, stating that differences in policies towards the island between the major superpowers could lead to a potential conflict.
Trump also spoke on the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, which hangs in a fragile ceasefire, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. China is one of Iran’s top allies.
Several CEOs will travel with Trump for the summit. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Apple CEO Tim Cook will be among the top guests of Trump’s trip.
