NORTHERN MICHIGAN ~ Flood waters are beginning to recede in the Northern Michigan region, though damage to infrastructure and homes was left behind.
One of the closest watched spots was the Cheboygan Dam, an hour southeast of the Mackinac Bridge, due to the water buildup in the Cheboygan River from melting snow and rainfall. The water levels began to lower over the weekend, with turbines in the hydroelectric powerhouse being turned on Friday morning to increase the flow. As of Monday morning, the water at the dam was 7.68 inches below the top, .12 inches lower than on Sunday.
