DETROIT, MICH. ~ The eight seed Orlando Magic never gave up the lead Sunday night at Little Caesars Arena as the top seed Detroit Pistons were upset 112-101 in Game 1 of this first-round series in the Eastern Conference. Point guard Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons, notching 39 points, but didn’t get enough support from All-Star center Jalen Duren, who only scored eight points on four shots.
All five Magic starters scored in double figures, with forward Paolo Banchero leading the way with 23 points. In the defeat, Detroit extends its home playoff losing streak to 11 games, which marks the longest home playoff victory drought in the NBA.
Both teams will meet again for Game 2 Wednesday night at LCA, with tip off set for 7 p.m.
