EAST LANSING, September 13, 2024 ~ Michigan State Football (2-0) will come back home this weekend to face Prairie View A&M after taking down Maryland on the road for the Spartans first Big Ten win of 2024.

Although the game ended in a 27-24 victory thanks to a last second kick from graduate Jonathan Kim, the green and white had a plethora of mistakes which they will be trying to correct this week.

Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles had the best game of his young career at MSU, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Even with this success, turnovers stung his stat line with two interceptions and a fumble. The message to control possession has been a focal point at practice this week, with a brutal stretch of games against ranked opponents following this weekend.

(CONTINUED) MSU’s defense also made some improvements from Week One against FAU, as they cut down on a lot of costly penalties. Junior cornerback Charles Brantley helped keep their forced turnover streak alive with an interception. The unit, led by coordinator Joe Rossi, would like to keep this level of playing going into the bulk of conference play. With some injuries piling up in the secondary, targeting penalties similar to Malik Spencer’s cannot be afforded.

Prairie View comes to East Lansing with a 1-1 record after falling to conference opponent Texas Southern. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. Stay tuned for our Tailgate Show on https://www.wjr.com/MSU-Athletics/ or in person at Munn Field starting at 12:30 p.m.
