EAST LANSING, September 7, 2024 ~ Michigan State Football (2-0) was able to will a comeback victory together in the final quarter on the road against a Big Ten foe, the Maryland Terrapins (1-1), winning in the waning seconds by way of a 37-yard field goal off the boot of Jonathan Kim.
Down a touchdown midway through the fourth period Saturday afternoon at Byrd Stadium, sophomore MSU quarterback Aidan Chiles launched a pass to freshman wide receiver Nick Marsh for a 77-yard score right down the middle of the field.

(CONTINUED) Chiles struggled again with turnovers and miscues, but showed promise in both his arm and his legs. The 18-year-old finished his day with 374 total yards and three touchdowns.
The Spartan defense, similar to last week against FAU, held strong despite being put in tough situations due to turnovers. Junior defensive back Charles Brantley came up huge for the team with an interception that would lead to the seven points, deadlocking both squads at 24 a few minutes later.
With the 27-24 victory, and the first conference win of head coach Jonathan Smith’s career in the green and white, MSU will make the trip back to East Lansing for a matchup against Prairie View A&M.
