Michigan Gas Prices Reach 2024 High

MICHIGAN, March 18, 2024 ~ As of today, gas prices in Michigan reached a 2024 high with drivers paying $3.65 per gallon for regular unleaded.

Just a week ago, gas prices were nine cents cheaper. Looking back a month ago, gas was 44 cents cheaper. Approximately one year ago, gas was priced at $3.47.

Why are prices suddenly surging? According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the price increase is a result of higher demand and lower supply. Location-wise, the most expensive gas price averages are in Grand Rapids ($3.71), Jackson ($3.71), and Saginaw ($3.70), whereas the lowest prices are in Marquette ($3.49), Metro Detroit ($3.57), and Flint ($3.60).

Yet another reason is the season change. More Michiganders are getting out-and-about, causing gas demand to increase.
