Bills to Expand Michigan’s FOIA Laws Sent to State Senate Floor

LANSING, March 13, 2024 ~ Legislation was sent to the Michigan State Senate floor Wednesday that would expand government transparency laws.

The Senate Oversight Committee voted to send Senate Bills 669 and 670 out of committee, which would add the Michigan legislature and the governor’s office under the state Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) laws. State Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) and State Sen. Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan) co-sponsored the bills.
