WARREN, Feb. 2, 2024 ~ While President Joe Biden received a warm welcome from metro Detroit-area UAW members, many protestors arrived close the the location where he was speaking to deliver a firm message: Biden is not welcome in Michigan due to his support of Israel‘s military assault on Gaza.
The president, flanked by Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Gary Peters (D-MI), Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-6), and other Michigan politicians, spoke with UAW President Shawn Fain and union members to boast about the economy and labor support under Biden. Nearby the meeting, police in riot gear stared down a crowd of protesters shouting “f–k Joe Biden” and “genocide Joe,” shouting their anger over Biden’s support of Israel’s war that has killed over 27,100 people in Gaza.
