About 1 Million Michigan Corewell Health Patients Have Personal Info Compromised in Data Breach

MICHIGAN, Dec. 1, 2023 ~ About 1 million patients of the Michigan-based Corewell Health system had their data breached from a cyber attack earlier this year, according to a new report.

Welltok Inc., a company Corewell contracts for patient communication, was hacked in May, with information on patient names, email addresses, phone numbers, diagnoses, health insurance, and Social Security numbers possibly affected. There have been no reported cases of fraud so far related to the breach, according to Welltok officials.
