OXFORD, MI, Nov. 14, 2023 ~ Jennifer and James Crumbley, parents of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley, will now have separate trials related to their four manslaughter charges after Oakland County Judge Cheryl Matthews granted a request from their attorneys.

The lawyers put in a request Monday citing unspecified “new evidence” that creates a conflict with the parents’ standing trial together, who are accused of negligence with not addressing their son’s mental health issues and purchasing the gun he used in the shooting that killed four of his classmates. The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office said while the defendants had a right to have separate trials, they said the evidence in question was not new and that separate trials would come at the costs of victims, witnesses, and taxpayers.

The Crumbleys’ trial was set for Jan. 23, but it is unclear when their new ones will take place.
