STERLING HEIGHTS, MI, Oct. 24, 2023 ~ Monday morning the UAW announced a massive expansion in its “Stand Up” strike against Stellantis.

6,800 members of the Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, one of the largest plants that produces the best-selling Ram 1500 trucks, began hitting the picket line, raising the total to surpass 40,000 strikers.

Shawn Fain and other UAW leaders claim that Stellantis has the weakest contract offer out of the Big Three automakers, still failing to reach the desired 30% wage increase. Consequently, the strike expansion was reasonably expected to observers, but still remained to be a surprise to Stellantis as they claimed there were “productive” talks last Thursday.

Kalea Hall, automotive reporter for The Detroit News, talks on “JR Morning with Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds” about the Stellantis strike and potential impacts in the automotive industry.
