Trump Endorses Jim Jordan for House Speaker

WASHINGTON, Oct. 6, 2023 ~ Friday morning, Former President Trump endorsed Republican Representative Jim Jordan amidst the race for the House Speaker role.

On social media, Trump stated, “[Jordan] has my complete and total endorsement.” His verbal support could make a potential impact on the House decision.

Jordan is known for being a loyal ally to Trump, his strong Republican views, and his position as Judiciary Committee Chairman.

Trump made no mention of Representative Steve Scalise, Jordan’s opponent who’s also seeking the open role as House Speaker. However, both candidates have landed several endorsements.

(CONTINUED) After ousting Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, the House has been in recess. Temporarily, Patrick McHenry of North Carolina is fulfilling McCarthy’s role until the upcoming vote next week.

Next Tuesday, Republicans plan on initiating the process by holding a private meeting for discussion and candidates to seek endorsements for the position. A House-wide speaker vote is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11.
