DETROIT, Sept. 7, 2023 ~ Rocket Mortgage co-founder and Michigan billionaire Dan Gilbert, along with his wife Jennifer, announced a $375 million donation Wednesday for a Detroit medical facility in partnership with Henry Ford Health.
The donation, from the billionaires’ Gilbert Family Foundation, will help construct a 72-bed physical medicine and rehabilitation facility to help people recover from strokes. The Gilberts’ donation will also help Henry Ford Health establish the Nick Gilbert Neurofibromatosis Research Institute, in honor of their son Nick who died earlier this year from the genetic disorder.
Henry Ford Health Executive Vice President Dr. Steven Kalkanis and Laura Grannemann, executive director of the Rocket Community Fund and the Gilbert Family Foundation, both spoke more about the project on “JR Morning with Guy Gordon.”
