ANN ARBOR, August 16, 2022 ~ 1.3 million has just been granted to the Cadillac/Wexford Transit Authority, bringing their vision of a passenger rail corridor between Ann Arbor and Traverse City (A2TC) one step closer to reality.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made the announcement last week, indicating that the funds would come from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program.

In a 2018 study, researchers found that the A2TC rail line would serve an expected 1.5 million riders each year and generate more than $100 million dollars annually.

The planning study team is expected to issue their results within the next 18 months.
