DETROIT ~ Michigan voters are preparing for the Nov. 3, 2026, general election, with major races for governor, U.S. Senate and other statewide offices expected to draw strong turnout across the state. The election will mark a significant political shift as Michigan elects a new governor for the first time since 2018 because Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is term-limited and cannot seek another term.
For many residents, the election is about more than politics. It is a chance to weigh in on issues that affect daily life, including the cost of living, education, roads and public safety, while helping shape Michigan’s future for years to come.
