EAST LANSING ~ MSU head coach Pat Fitzgerald said Monday he remains confident in his team as it turns the page from a 31‑13 loss to Wisconsin and prepares to host Illinois. He acknowledged fan frustration, saying, “If I was a fan, I would not be happy with us,” but added that he didn’t question the team’s effort.
Fitzgerald pointed to turnovers as the biggest missed opportunity, noting MSU “had our hands on the ball three times” without securing a takeaway. He said he will stay aggressive in calling defensive chances but “will never be reckless.” This week’s practices, he said, will follow his philosophy that “everything’s earned, and it’s reearned each day,” with the goal of turning frustration into motivation.
