LANSING, Mich. ~ Authorities are investigating a series of five unsolved deaths involving unhoused men along a roughly 1-mile stretch of Lansing’s River Trail, raising concerns among residents and advocates. Most of the victims suffered severe blunt-force injuries, while one case involved a fatal stabbing that has already resulted in criminal charges against a suspect.
Police have not determined whether the deaths are connected, but investigators continue to examine each case as they search for answers. Family members and community advocates are calling for increased safety measures along the trail, while authorities say limited surveillance footage and a lack of witnesses have complicated the investigations.
