DETROIT, MICH. ~ The Detroit Lions and head coach Dan Campbell came out victorious in a battle against former Lions’ defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and the New York Jets, winning 31-24 Sunday afternoon at Ford Field behind three touchdowns from running back Jahmyr Gibbs.
Gibbs tallied two of his three scores on the ground, while catching the winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Detroit quarterback Jared Goff found wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown for his only other passing touchdown of the game before the end of the first half.
The Lions’ defense showed up when it mattered most, forcing a fumble on New York’s final offensive possession of the day. Safety Chuck Clark recorded a strip sack on Jets’ quarterback Geno Smith, and linebacker Jack Campbell scooped it up to seal the contest.
Detroit will hit the road for the second time this season later this week as they gear up for a matchup with the Carolina Panthers next Sunday night.
