MOUNT PLEASANT ~ The Great Lakes Royals announced Thursday a partnership with Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort that will make the Mount Pleasant destination the home court for the professional basketball team during the 2026-27 season.
The Royals will represent Mid-Michigan and the Great Lakes Bay Region in the Basketball Super League, an independent professional league with teams in multiple markets. The club expects to play about 16 home games during the league’s November-to-March season in Soaring Eagle’s 800-seat boutique ballroom, which will feature courtside seating and VIP boxes.
“This announcement is about so much more than basketball,” said Kelly Garety, owner of the Great Lakes Royals. “From the beginning, our vision has been to build something this entire region can feel part of — something that brings families together, creates opportunities, supports local businesses, and gives Mid-Michigan a team to rally around.”
The Royals are expected to release additional details regarding schedules, ticket sales, sponsorship opportunities, and other team activities in the coming months.
