June 10, 2026 ~ Phoebe Wall Howard, contributing columnist for The Detroit News, to talk about her new column: “Stellantis is looking for designers… NOT AI.“
DETROIT ~ More companies are following the A.I. trend recently by laying off employees in favor of using AI technology. But some companies are still looking for talent the old-fashioned way.
Car manufacturer Stellantis has put out help-wanted signs, asking not for A.I., but for designers to join their ranks, according to Detroit News columnist Phoebe Wall Howard. She said this falls into the unique vision of Ralph Gilles, chief design officer of Stellantis.
“He’s looking at fashion designers, painters, gamers, digital designers, because what he finds is that when he puts them into the Stellantis operation, they bring up new ideas and fresh approaches,” Howard told WJR. “It is something that is old-fashioned, but it seems to be identifying new ways of working.“
