July 10, 2026 ~ Republican Senate Candidate Veteran Mike Rogers has big news on a Gordie Howe Bridge deal.
DETROIT, MICH. ~ On Friday, Republican Senate Candidate Veteran Mike Rogers joined Focus with Paul W. Smith Friday afternoon to share an update on the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
“I had a conversation with Secretary of Commerce Lutnick yesterday. And the deal will be announced in the next few days. That bridge is going to get opened,” Rogers said. “But the financial deal that they secured for us we went from getting no revenue. I believe it’ll be as much as half the revenue. Joint determination what the tolls are. Remember, the Canadians were going to have 100% control of what the tolls were on the board. That’s going to change.”
According to Rogers, the new deal guarantees that Chinese cars will not be poured over the bridge, avoiding the negative impact that could have been brought to Michigan’s auto industry.
The Gordie Howe Bridge opening has been delayed since early June.
